First Lines is a creative writing tool that helps writers overcome the blank page by providing inspiring first lines drawn from a lottery. Writers can publish their work and receive community votes to determine if their story should continue publicly, creating a collaborative space for creative validation and feedback.

01

Overview

Many writers struggle with starting their stories, facing the intimidating blank page. First Lines addresses this by offering a unique lottery system where writers can draw random first lines as creative prompts. The platform goes beyond inspiration by providing a community-driven validation system where writers can share their work and receive votes to gauge whether their story resonates with readers.

02

Approach

The design focuses on simplicity and serendipity. The lottery mechanism creates excitement and removes the pressure of choosing a starting point. The voting system encourages community engagement while giving writers valuable feedback on whether their work should continue. The interface balances playful discovery with serious writing tools, making the platform both fun and functional.

03

Outcome

A writing tool that combines creative inspiration with community validation. Writers can overcome writer's block through the lottery system, share their work confidently, and receive feedback through voting. The platform creates a supportive environment where writers can test their ideas before committing to longer works, reducing the fear of public failure while encouraging creative exploration.
